Complex Numbers

Complex numbers are a mathematical way of representing two numbers as a single number (? i’m not sure if this is the correct way to put this). A complex number consists of two parts; the real and imaginary parts. A complex number is generally writen as $x+yj$ or $x+yi$ (mathematicians use $i$, while engineers tend to use $j$, otherwise they’re the same). In these examples $x$ is the real part, and $y$ is the imaginary part. $i$ is a constant and always refers to $\sqrt{-1}$.
